| Smoke alarms can save your life. Make sure you install at least one on each level of your home and one outside each sleeping area. The alarm should be loud enough to hear even with the door closed while sleeping. for the hearing-impaired, install one with a flashlight light or one that vibrates.
Test your smoke alarms at least once a month using the test button and change the batteries twice per year. Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years.
