Emergency Food & Water

Home   : :   Emergency Food and Water Kits - Disaster Kits

One of the most important considerations in the aftermath of a disaster is water. Clean, safe drinking water may not be readily available due to plumbing issues. Water is something we often take for granted until it is not there, which is why it is important to invest in a survival kit.

It is recommended that for your emergency kits, you store one gallon of emergency water per person, per day for drinking, cooking and sanitation purposes. Store-bought bottled water does not have a long shelf life, must be rotated frequently and cannot withstand extreme temperatures like Aquablox water. You can also choose a 55-gallon water barrel and a water preserver which will keep for 5 years. Never drink water from your toilet tank as some experts tell you!

Food is also very important though we can go longer without it than without water. An emergency food bar is great because it has all the nutrients you need as well as a long shelf life. One bar provides enough calories for three days. You can also opt for ready meals (MRE's) which come with or without heaters in a variety of flavors such as chicken with rice and beef chili.
